This week was pretty great. Debbie got baptized on Saturday! That was
definitely the highlight of my week.
This week was transfer week, which brought with it some changes. We
are now part of a larger district. Previously we were a district of
four elders, but we combined with another into the Prescott District,
consisting of six elders and four sisters.
A little fun thing for "The Crew": does anyone else remember Bryce's
weird almost fascination with his Creole Spices? Well, I found this at
Walmart:
Needless to say, I bought a little thing of it for $2, and it's actually really good! ;D
Another crazy story: we were on the way to a member's house for dinner in a thunderstorm, when a huge bolt of lightning flashed and thundered at almost the same time. When we got there, we came to find out that that bolt of lightning had hit their barn. Brother Grendell had also been up in a little workspace right under the spot that got hit! He said that fire shot out of the outlets and he was amazed to be alive!
The next day, Elder B had a doctors appointment for an ingrown toenail. The doctor suggested that they cut out part of the nail, which Elder B agreed to. He's like super afraid of needles, so he was kinda freaking out when the doctor pulled out a syringe to numb his toe. Later, Elder B had to have a blood test done in order to get anti fungus stuff for his toe. We were waiting at the local LabCorp for half an hour. Elder B was so freaked out about the needle that he started writing his last will and testament! Unfortunately, he had no idea what one actually contained, so he ended up writing a letter about "how I'm about to die!"
After all the appointments, we decided to splurge and went to KFC. It was so good! But kinda expensive. I realized I literally haven't had it since I was like 5.
That night, we visited sister Wellington again. We were originally just bringing her music to lead at our baptism, but ended up talking for over an hour. She told us stories and I showed her pictures of our family and the Clawson's, which was cool. She had particular interest in Ben and Bethany's acting "careers" with Arts Live theatre, since she did a lot of community theatre back in the day. She says she'd love to mentor them on their next show, if they're interested.
Saturday morning, we did a bunch of service. We've been helping out is zany old couple by fixing their roof and painting their house. Yesterday, I got to take Elder Dill's truck and go pick up a recliner they'd bought. I also helped by putting a strap around a tree and helping to pull it out of the way, so we could paint.
Debbie's baptism was awesome! She had a member friend from Hawaii FaceTime in, high was really interesting. We sang an old baptist favorite, "It is Well with my Soul", for her, and she was confirmed yesterday.
One last cool theme in my life the past week has been connecting with children. We have these two crazy 9/10 year olds who will never sit down and be quiet like their mother wants. I was able to keep them quiet during dinner by talking with them about YouTube and video games, their favorite things. I also ended up relations with another child through his Pokemon cards, just like Melissa said I might!
That's about it for this week!
Keep Hauling that water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
