SISTER MELISSA
RICHARDSON LETTER #5
AUGUST 12, 2013
So
much to say...and only 11 minutes to get it down. Deep breaths, here we
go.
-First
of all, the gospel is incredible!! We had two investigators at church last
week that were the result of many miracles. We went over to one lady's
house at 7am to help her start getting ready...we didn't think she'd make it,
takes her 3 hours to get ready...but somehow she got there at the beginning of
the 2nd hour of church! We were ecstatic! Our investigator that is
getting baptized in 2 weeks came with her two little kids. We were so
happy!!
-We
had some awesome experiences finding new investigators this week. One
house we knocked on and it was a fmaily with several kids and they sat everyone
down to listen to us talk and we taught them and gave them a book of mormon and
set up another appointment to come teach. It was so fun for me to teach
kids, I"ve msised being around kids!
-Had
some delicious corn nuggets (fried creamed corn)...it was the best
-There
are winn-dixie grocery stores! Makes me think of the book Because of
Winn-Dixie every time
-I
was told that I don't know how to give a proper southern hug...minhe are too
delicate and light...I"m working on having a southern hug and squeezing
people more....hahah
-We
made bread this week! We made a batch of about 7 small loaves! We are using
them to help serve people and contact people that may have had a bad experience
with the church and gone less-active. Oh and the term is not inactive,
but less-active...apparently.
-Sister
Hutchins and i have learned that whenever we feel crazy nervous before going to
knock on a door, then that is when something awesome is going to happen and
Satan is trying to get us too scared so we won't go up and talk to them.
We had an awesome experience finding a family that is looking for a church to
go to and they are just the sweetset things. We are so excited to go back
and teach. It's hard because you fall in love with people so fast and
feel the love God has for them, but then sometimes they choose to not learn
more and it's heart-breaking. But all a part of the work!
-I've
gained a testimony of personal revelatoin through the Book of Mormon! We
assigned a chapter in the B of M for one of our investigators toread. We
had her write down what she learned and then pray about it. We came back
the next time and she told us that God ahd taught her that she needs to stop
smoking marijuana. We were baffled....where in the world does the Book of
Mormon say that? She said it was a part that was talking about how we need to
be freed from chains. So basically, read the book of mormon with a
question and YOU WILL GET THE ANSWER! As long as you pray about it and ask God
sincerely. So cool! I'm trying to read with a question every time I read
a chapter now. Any question and it works!
-I
have 48 bug bites. Fire ants. Mosquitoes. Chiggers. Hooray!
We had a parent trap moment where a member told us to use this body spray stuff
to keep the mosquitoes away...ends up she told us wrong and its for keeping
away sand gnats. Not mosquitoes. Pretty sure we sprayed sugar water
on our legs...we came back that night screaming with itchiness and it looked
like our legs had chicken pox. Thank goodness for hydrocortisone
cream!
No
more time! I will write the rest of this weeks letter and mail it to my Mom and
then she will put it on the blog!! Love you all. Don't forget about
how powerful and specific your prayers can be!
Sister
Richardson
