FOLLOWING THE SICK MAN'S PROMPTING
February 20, 2019
Hello, everyone! How's it going? Things kind of dropped off for a few weeks, but I'm still alive! I always try to write the weekly email, but sometimes things get in the way, and it's just tough to get everything done...
Also, it was super cool getting to call and see my family this morning! For those who didn't hear, there was a change in how missionaries can communicate with their families! Now we can call and video chat and things like that each week! So Elder Brown and I called our families this morning, and we were just freaking out because it felt so weird to just call them!
But we've had a lot of crazy updates! We are teaching a lot of new people now! We met this woman Maria who just has had a super close relationship with God through all of her life, but she's never quite agreed with what different churches have taught her over the years. She loves everything that we've shared with her, and has really loved coming to church these last couple weeks! She's recognizing things in her life that are keeping her from coming closer to Jesus Christ, and she's been working on taking those steps, even before we've talked about these things! She's awesome!
A cool story from this week! So Elder Brown got sick, and was dying a little bit, so we were inside most of the day. And then, around 7pm, Elder Brown perks up and says that we need to go and visit this man we met a few weeks ago named Ray. I was like, "Hm, no. You really don't need to get sicker," but Elder Brown was determined, and felt like it was an inspired idea.
So we get all ready, head out the door, hop on our bikes, and ride to this guy's home. He answers the door, and then goes back in looking for his mom, yelling, "Mom! It's the church people!" Then his mom, Melvia, answers, and she asks where the church is. We tell her, and she talks about how she's been going through some stressful times. She really wants to get back into going to church, but hasn't known where to go because she's only moved in recently. When we asked if we could meet again, she said that we could come anytime, and that she would wait for us out on the porch! So we're going to go and see her tomorrow, and we are very excited!
I'm so grateful for the Spirit, and the many ways it directs us in doing the Lord's work! I've seen it in action many times like this on my mission, and I know it's worked in ways I cannot see.
Unfortunately, my time here in Palm Springs is coming to a close. I'm heading out to a new area, and a new companion this week, but it's the same work, the same Gospel, and I get to serve the same God! I'm so grateful for my mission, and the many blessings that come from sharing the Gospel!
With much gratitude,
Elder Richardson
1) Here's our picture from when Elder Christofferson visited our mission! We finally got a copy!
2) WE FOUND A STATUE OF LUCY RICARDO FROM I LOVE LUCY! IT WAS WAY COOL!
3) Our Zone at an activity in an Awkward Family Photo set up.
4) And a missionary got bit by a horse, and I accidentally got a picture of that. Welp...
