ELDER HYRUM RICHARDSON #80 -- DEC 1, 2014

ELDER HYRUM RICHARDSON #80
DECEMBER 1, 2014

Last Monday, we went and visited one of the less-active ladies in our area. She loves feeding missionaries, and practically force-fed us some cake, which was really good but we were all so full! She is so nice and as soon as she recovers from the illness that she has she should be able to come back to church!

Tuesday we met with Gina. She is awesome! She read 10 chapters in the Book of Mormon, and spent most of the lesson telling us what she had learned from reading. It's amazing to see investigators who want to progress on their own, because that is what will keep them going after missionaries leave or trials come! We are excited for her to come to church next week and meet with her again tomorrow!

On Thursday, we tried to go visit a referral who was in the Psychiatric ward. They wouldn't let us wear ties to go in, so it was really strange to not wear a tie in public! One of the nurses kicked us out pretty quick, but we at least got to say Hi.
That evening, we went up the mountain to the home of one of our members Thanksgiving dinner! I really missed Thanksgiving dinner last year, so I'm really lucky to be in the English ward this year and know a lot of nice members who like to feed missionaries. The mashed potatoes and turkey were delicious!

We invited an investigator and an RC to come to Thanksgiving dinner with us, but they both ended up going to the wrong house! But they at least got dinner and got to hang out with the rest of the YSAs!

Friday it got really hot again! It was above 80 degrees again! I thought I was done sweating for the rest of my mission!

Friday we also helped set up the giant Christmas tree in the chapel next to the temple. I forgot to take a picture, but I'll try to take one today!

Saturday we had another Thanksgiving dinner! Most schools don't have vacation for Thanksgiving (or Christmas) here, so we had dinner with some members that had to work on Thanksgiving. We were also with the Williams family! It had been a while since we saw them, so it was good to talk to them again. They are getting really close to baptism! Hopefully it will be in the month of December!

Sunday was awesome. For our 5th week Sunday lesson, the Bishop talked about "His Grace is Sufficient" talk from Brad Wilcox. It was a great lesson for some of our investigators that were there. If you haven't ever read it, you should!
It is the best explanation about grace and works that I've ever read!

Sunday evening, there was a fireside commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Taiwan Taibei Temple! We had three members of the Seventy who spoke as well as the Temple President and Temple Matron. Our (Mainland) Chinese investigator attended and really liked it! There was another lady who spoke and the Temple President mentioned that it was her life goal to do 5,000 endownments in the temple in her life. She is already at about 3,500! She is a great example of dedicating her time and efforts to doing God's work!

It was a great week! Hope you have a good one too!
