SISTER MELISSA RICHARDSON WEEKLY LETTER #65 -- OCT 7, 2014

SISTER MELISSA RICHARDSON
OCTOBER 7, 2014

Hello family! The last two days it has ben staying in the 70s, finally! It is so glorious! Everyone here is loving it, including me. I've already heard a few people at that it's cold. Finally feels like some fall.

This week has been good! We've met a few new people that we can hopefully start teaching. The best finding method still is tracting around members homes.

Had another lesson with Brother Horton who is starting to come back to church. He was even happier this time than last time! So cool to see the spirit changing him still. I've learned this week that the gospel and the spirit naturally brings people and families closer together. There's no way around it. It's just a natural result.

We met a retired couple from Arkansas! It was exciting! They want us to come back and teach them about family history. They invited us right in the house without even knowing us and gave us ice cream!

Montee's baptism and Crystal's wedding are this weekend!

Oh! And we got to watch the new church movie Meet the Mormons this past week! They showed it to all the missionaries at our zone meeting. IT IS SO GOOD!! Take any opportunity you have to go see it. It is not a doctrine-based movie but reminded me more of a Facing the Giants or Courageous inspirational Christian movie. It's a feature of the lives of 6 different church members and how they live their faith everyday. And they all have super cool life stories. It was funny and sad and happy and inspirational all in one. I'm excited to watch it again someday! The best part was that since the church building in St. Augustine is closed for repairs right now, we watched it in a nearby Catholic Church...very odd place for an LDS missionary meeting.

We took Sister Luna with us to an investigator lesson this week! It was so powerful to hear Sister Luna beat her testimony to the investigator of how the church and the gospel have helped and blessed her family so much and her personally. So cool to see how we serve people and then they eventually are able to return the favor and serve and help others.

It was so great watching conference this weekend! We watched one of the Saturday sessions with the Luna family! That was happy. Some themes of the talks that stood out to me were sustaining the prophets, personal revelation for your own testimony, and also the sacrament. Lots of things to work on and learn! I wrote down questions before the sessions started and just like I'd been promising people all week, conference and the spirit answered all of them. Sunday evening, the Bishop gave Sister Hall a priesthood blessing and it was so reassuring and comforting too! We are so blessed to have the priesthood authority as well as the prophets and apostles. Such an amazing and trustworthy direct link to our Heavenly Father.

I love the gospel!
Sister Richardson
