SISTER REBECCA RICHARDSON MISSION JOURNAL #1 -- July 15-23, 2019

 July 15-28, 2019:

Got to experience being a mom by helping out with Ryden (my cousin's Amy and her husband 1-year old toddler) while Amy was catching up with a few things. I got to also help her with other projects: like organizing some of her things; clothes and receipt. I did the dishes, swept the floors, helped with the food, etc. I went to church with them at the Prairie Grove ward. The lesson was taught about Peter becoming a President or a prophet of the church after the Savior died. Peter had a vision or saw a vision from Heavenly Father. He told Peter in the vision that it's the right time to teach the gospel to the non- Jews, which were the Gentiles. Now the Jews thought if some of the people weren't the seed of Abraham; then they called them unclean and those people weren't accepted by God. He guided the prophets and his church by revelation. The lesson here is that you shouldn't judge or make assumptions about other people because they're different or they believe in a different religion. You should accept them as who they are. I love how in Acts 10 verse 34 it says, "God is no respecter of persons" meaning that all the people will receive those blessings of the gospel, if and only if they follow the teachings of the gospel and commit to following his teachings. Another thing is if they live it, then they will receive the blessings from him. (Acts 10-15)

- Monday: For their Family home evening, some wrote letters for my brother Ben and I got to color in letters that had cool designs. I did two of those and one of them had a scripture verse. The other had a scripture verse too.

- Tuesday: I got ready to go back home to my family. When I got home, my mom and dad were like we missed you. I told them that I missed them too. What's funny is that dad was like "where did you come from and is that really you." I told him that it was really me and I decided to "move back in because I missed the family so much."

Funny story: They had a Rooster named Spot. This rooster was put in "timeout." Yes, he was put in timeout. Seems kinda funny; rigttttttt. The reason why he was put in time out is that he was being a bully to Ryden and Amy told Spot to leave Ryden alone three times, but he didn't listen to Amy. Poor Ryden was terrified. Pretend you were a one-year-old Ryden and this big Rooster came in front of your face with his wings out.

The most adorable thing was when the chickens would chase each other or run around with their little chicken legs.

Wednesday: I went to Cobblestone farm with the two sister missionaries (sister Faleafa and sister Pierce.) We helped pick different kinds of peppers with the other missionaries and weeded around the peppers. Let me tell ya, I was sweating buckets because it was so hot. That night I helped my mom with some Youth Conference things. Then I got my Real Official name tag and a Service Missionary handbook. I was super excited that I got my name tag!!

.

Fun Fact: The California Reaper is the hottest pepper in the world. If you people ever are brave enough to try it, you should do it.

Thursday: I got to have the experience to go with lunch with these two couples (The Nothum's) that are in charge of the Service Missionaries. Her husband, Bob Nothum, is actually in charge of building Food Processing Systems down in Springfield, Missouri. I also got to meet Elder Witt from Missouri too. We talked about some things in the service missionary handbook and goals as a service missionary. One goal that the Nothum's talked about with us; is trying to have or get or pull out 8 service missionaries in each stake before 6 months. So, what we are doing is spreading the word to the stake high counselors to try to get more service missionaries out in the field. It's like starting a business: You start small and then you get bigger. What’s cool is that Elder Witt and I are the first service missionaries. Just to clarify, Elder Witt is the first service missionary in Missouri and I'm the first service missionary here in Arkansas. The Nothum's told us that we were technically the leaders and the first pioneers for this service mission. Then I went to the stake center to help out with the youth conference.

Friday: Wrote this Letter, practiced guitar (started to play little bits of Speechless from Aladdin), and read some things in the handbook.

Mmmmmmmm, taste fantastic!!

Let's see who can "spot" him
