SISTER REBECCA RICHARDSON MISSION JOURNAL #9 -- Jan 4-10, 2020

Summary for this week: Jan 4-10, 2020

Brother and Sister Nothum picked me up on Sunday. Along the way, we picked up an Elder Witt and a guy (soon to be an elder and a service missionary) in Monett, MO. Then, headed to Millard, MO. In the afternoon we had a little meeting.

Monday P-day:  Another service missionary elder came and a guy (soon to be a service missionary). In total there are 5 of us. No service missionary sisters yet. We are slowly progressing. Rode brother Nothum's horse and went to their other property called Turkey Creek (they have a house that people can stay in, huge acres of land, 2 four-wheedlers, a side by side, 2 ponds, fishing pools, and guns). What we did there: each of us took turns driving the side by side. No worries, brother Nothum was in there with us. Then we went fishing. For me, I am not the type of person that likes fishing because you have to deal with the hooks and those hooks are scary looking, but I still went fishing. I didn't catch any fish that day. Let me tell you about the horse. His name is Jack. Nickname, Jacky Boy (came up with the Nickname). He reminds me of that horse Spirit (in the movie called Spirit Horse). I was surprised, I got up on the horse for the first try and, first, time. Got on the horse 2 more times and rode it. I drove side by side a couple of times. I have to say so myself, I am good at driving it. I even went for the creek and sped through it. In the process, I got my shoes and brother Nothum's shoes wet. I had a blast that day. Elder Witt and two soon to become service missionaries wherein back; they didn't get wet. After we did those fun things there plus having lunch, we headed back to their normal house. In their barn house, we had a meeting with all of us: we talked about goals for this year. For example: talked about doing better at getting up in the morning, exercising, and doing our personal study. Had dinner, treats, watched 2 movies in their barn house.

The next morning a professional trainer came. She taught us a few exercises we can do and to stretch after you do exercise. Another tip she gave us is to go outside to get some fresh air in the morning. Around 9:40 we left to go do service at the diaper bank in Springfield, MO. We bunged diapers together and wrapped them in like a clear plastic wrap. Had lunch at Braums. When finished, we waited for the new boy and service missionary elder parents to pick them up.

On the way back to Fayetteville, we had to drop off Elder Witt and the other new boy to their houses. I just love and enjoy the gatherings we have. The Nothum’s make things fun for us.

-The verse I read in my scripture study Wednesday morning:

1 Nephi 3:7: And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them. Nephi is such a really good example of going and doing the task that the Lord has asked of him, even though it might be scary, he just went and did it. We should be like Nephi and do what the Lord has commanded us to do; accomplishing that certain task he asks of us or you to do. Even though the task from god might sound crazy or scary, just do what he asks or just do it.

- On Thursday, I went with my mom to talk to Sam Palmer and get me started to volunteer at the library. By volunteering at the library, this can put me on a path to turn into a job. Starting on Monday-Thursday next week I will be volunteering at the library from 12:00 pm- 5:00 pm.
