It's been a fun week and I can't believe it's already August!
Last week we were adjusting to our new place and how far away it is
from our area. So now we just drive into our area and park at the
grocery store and then bike around. It's been really sweaty.
The highlight of the week was Jose Luna's baptism! There was a lot of
prep leading up to it and it was worth it! We had several families
come to support them which was happy! Brother Luna was nervous about
doing the baptism and he had to do it several times but it was still
great. There was such a great spirit there. Brother and sister Luna
said beautiful and heartfelt opening and closing prayers. Sister
merchant and I sang my Heavenly Father loves me with her mandolin.
After the baptism, little Jose said "this was the best day ever!"
We had great lessons with Montee and Crystal this week. They have both
committed to be baptized! We just have to set dates with them now this
week. They also both came to church again on Sunday.
I had a fun birthday yesterday! Sister Merchant had put up streamers
in our front room , it was so cute. Later that day we did service for
a ward member and they had me cupcakes! Then the Sanok family had us
over for dinner and we had pizza and cake and ice cream with candles
and all of that. They has invited over about 8 of the youth of the
ward to be there too because they said they wanted it to feel like a
party with my big family back home :) At the end of the night we
stopped by the Bishops house to have him sign a paper for us and
Sister Giles gave me a present! She got me some earrings and a hair
clip. So nice of her!
I decided yesterday morning that we were going to have a birthday
miracle, and we did! We found a great new investigator, a girl just
out of high school that we had run into a couple weeks ago and that we
saw again yesterday. She is so excited to read the Book of Mormon and
told me thank you after I bore my testimony of the Book of Mormon to
her. If only everyone responded that well when we shared the Book of
Mormon!!
Sister Merchant and I are both staying here another transfer!
We are doing another Facebook event! It is called I Follow Him. It
will be on August 16th. You take a picture of yourself with a picture
of Christ and then use the hashtag #ifollowhim and tell why you follow
the Savior. There is a Facebook event for it! We are trying to reach
lots of people with this event and it is something that every
Christian can participate in. We have 40,000 invites so far and have a
goal of 250,000 invites! Ive already invited all of my friends so we
just need you all to join the event and invite your friends and then
participate in the event! We have lots of teaching opportunities and
miracles from these Facebook events so we'd love everyone's help.
Life is good! Only one more month of the intense summer heat left, hopefully!
