JULY 15, 2014: SISTER MELISSA RICHARDSON
It is the French national holiday today! I got some French cheese and a baguette at the grocery store today to celebrate :)
It has been a week full of miracles!
#1: So we were doing some tracting and decided to go around the Giles (the Bishop's family) neighborhood. A few houses in and we meet Jenny who lets us right in to say a prayer with her and her young family. She connected that we were with the Giles church and immediately wanted to know more. She said that her and her husband were searching for a church and that they had previously decidded that they wanted to go to whatever church the Giles went to becuase they were such a great family. So we taught her about the Book of Mormon and planned on going back soon. We told Sister Giles and she was so excited and felt prompted to go visit her the next day. They talked for about an hour and Jenny said that us coming the previous day had been an answer to her prayers and that she wanted her daughter to be a good, wholesome girl like she could tell we were. Sister Giles pointed her to mormon.org and lds.org. Jenny spent the next couple days reading all through those sites. Sister Giles took her a book of mormon a few days later and Jenny said that this church is exactly what her and her husband have been looking for! She is planning on coming to the relief society activity with Sister Giles this upcoming Thursday and then hopefully to church the next Sunday. And hopefully a lesson with us missionaries soon as well. Wow! Stuff like this is a missionary's dream come true...that doesn't happen very often but is incredible when it does! We feel like we haven't done much of anything as missionaries but know that this family is well on their way to being baptized! So cool to witness!
#2 We started our sign language class! We are just doing it in Murabella (the housing complex we live in). We are holding it at a non-member's home and we had a few people come this week and then there are lots omre that committed to coming this upcoming Thursday. We have coordinated it all through facebook! IT will continue to be a good way to meet people in the area and to do service.
#3 Passion, the 13 year old about to get adopted by a family in the ward, went to Girls Camp this week. A couple young women, including Passion, gave short talks yesterday in church. Passion gets up there and boldly says that she now knows the church is true! She talked about how she felt the spirit so much at camp and that she feels like the ward is her big family. Wow! Such a change in her from just a month ago. She is excited for her baptism on July 26th.
#4 Montee, one of our investigators, texted us Sunday morning and asked what time church was. She had been out of town and we didn't thihnk she was back yet. She had worked a night shift as a nurse Saturday night but then took a nap and came to church on Sunday for all 3 hours and really liked it!! Hooray!
#5 The Luna family made it on time to church this week and were able to take the sacrament finally! We got them set up with a pinewood derby car to work on this week to take to the race on Saturday.
Those are the highlights for the week! It still downpours everyday around 3pm without fail! And our musical number on Sunday went great. Life is good and the gospel changes lives!
