LETTER #61: ELDER HYRUM RICHARDSON
JULY 21, 2014
This was an awesome week. It started with going to the temple on Wednesday. It was good to see Elder Garnet, one of the senior missionaries in my last area, while he was working in the temple. It'll be sad when they go home in two weeks.
Going to the temple is always invigorating. It makes the rest of the week go a lot smoother.
Brother Wang's baptism was awesome. Some of our members were a little bit worried because we planned the baptism for Saturday night instead of Sunday afternoon, and Bishop was worried because it's harder to get people there on Saturday night. However, we were pleasantly surprised by all of the people who came! It was really a special day for him because he got married to his girlfriend in the afternoon, and then baptized in the evening! I'm hoping that I'll be able to stay in contact with him and hopefully attend his sealing next year! He is truly a prepared person, and to see his growth already has been amazing.
I'll send the pictures of the baptism!
Sunday, we were a little disappointed in some of our less actives and investigators who didn't come to church, but the people who did come had a good experience! Rick is a referral from English class, but his mom was a long time member in our ward who passed away just last year. So some people knew who he was. One of our members came up and said hello to him and said she still remembered him being in her primary class over 20 years ago. That was pretty cool.
One of the young women in the ward has a saxophone that she hasn't played in a while, so I'm borrowing it! Hopefully I'll have time to play some today or next week.
There's a kid in our ward who loves thumb wars. He always comes up to me or my companion and has a thumb war with us. He's pretty good...sometimes I lose.
We met with a super awesome member referral on Saturday. Her best friend just left his week on a mission, but before she left she took this Sister Ye to do a temple square tour. So now we are meeting with Sister Ye and she's super awesome. We are really excited about continuing to meet with her.
That's all for this week. We are going hiking with Wu Mama today!
