LETTER #60: ELDER HYRUM RICHARDSON
JULY 16, 2014
Well, it's always a little weird when P-Day is on a Wednesday, because that means the week before is really long and then the week after is really short. It just throws everything off! But going to the temple is really worth it. Not the whole mission gets to go to the temple every three months, but I've been lucky to always be in areas that do get to go, so I've been pretty consistent.
Last week, we finally started consistently using Facebook! We haven't been able to get in and use the chapel computer, so we've started going to the library and using the computers there. It's been going pretty well! The first time we did it, we didn't know what to do, and kinda wasted a lot of time, so we've been working on having a really detailed plan so we can use time more effectively and get more things done. We're using it right now to invite all of our ward members to the baptism on Saturday!
Brother Wang is SO excited to get baptized. He's just dying to get in the water. He's also getting married the same day of the baptism, so that's going to be quite a day for him! We hope that all of our members will be able to come!
On Sunday, there was a special fireside at the chapel next to the temple. The Morphis family has 8 kids and they are from Canada. They taught about the importance of family and sang a bunch of songs. It was cool to see the whole chapel and gym fill up with people coming to the fireside!
On Monday, we had a special training with our mission president. There was a new announcement from Salt Lake about working with recent converts, and so now we will try to work with them for longer and teach them more after baptism.
Monday night, we didn't feel like we should go to the FHE that we usually go to, so instead we went to Neihu and went finding. We found a really cool guy who at first pulled out his Buddhist scripture and told us how they were all the same (like every Taiwanese person does), but then we pulled out a Book of Mormon and read a few scriptures with him. He said that the Book of Mormon was a lot simpler and much more clear, and that we wanted to keep reading it! He lives in Taizhong, but hopefully we'll be able to see him again before he goes back. It was a really cool miracle!
We have an investigator who doesn't really like to meet with us because he doesn't like "lessons," like if we call him and try to set up a time for a lessons, he'll say "I don't think so. I'm pretty busy." So instead I called him and asked him if he wanted to take us out to eat and he said "Sure, anytime!" So that's our new strategy for meeting with him. It works.
That's all for this week.
Add oil!
