JULY 29, 2014: SISTER MELISSA RICHARDSON
The highlight of the week was definitely seeing Passion and Tayvon
being baptized! The ward was great in helping us coordinate everything
for it. Their new dad baptized them and it was just so special. Both
if the kids shared their testimony after they were baptized and it was
so great. When they were confirmed, they both looked so happy :)
This week we did a lot of tracting and talking to people and found
some new investigators to start teaching. We also helped Crystal clean
her house and then also taught her about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She is ready to be baptized we think! But she just has a couple
commandments to start obeying and then we can start planning that.
Our sign language class is still going well! People are asking about
us and our church and what we do as missionaries so opportunities for
teaching are hopefully beginning! One class member even gave us a
referral of someone to talk to.
Yesterday (Sunday) was a crazy day! Both of us were speaking in church
and we wrote our talks that morning. And then a less active came to
church with her deaf daughter so I interpreted the second 2 hours of
church for her. That was mentally exhausting! That evening, we had the
youth music fireside with all the different musical numbers. We were
involved in about half of them. A recent convert brought her non
member daughter and husband, so that was the best! Everyone really
seemed to enjoy it.
So we were doing our studies this morning and the senior couple over
housing, the Christiansens, called us and said they were on their way
to help us move today! We weren't planning on moving until Saturday!
So we had an hour to pack up EVERYTHING and then they came and loaded
it up most of it in their trailer. So our Pday has been going back and
forth moving all the mission furniture and our suitcases and then
going to Walmart to get more things the apartment needed. It's been
crazy! Right now they are trying to figure out how to get the water
turned on for the condo.
Here's a quote by Elder Neil L. Andersen that I used in my talk on
Sunday about the blessings of the priesthood.
"A man may open the drapes so the warm sunlight comes into the room,
but the man does not own the sun or the light or the warmth it brings.
The blessings of the priesthood are infinitely greater than the one
who is asked to administer the gift."

I'll be a year older next time I write! Hopefully I don't get transferred!
Have a good week!
Sister Richardson
