Hello everyone!
Sorry I'm getting to this so late! All my missionary friends probably won't see this until next week :( Oh Well, here's what's been going on.
On Monday, we went on a hike for our district activity. It was super fun! Pictures will follow. We saw some petroglyphs and all tried to guess what event from the Book of Mormon they displayed. That started a running joke with Elder Leavitt and I about the entirety of the Book of Mormon occurring in just that one valley. It was super funny!
On Tuesday, we had a mini-zone conference. President Griffin has started a system where he meets with each zone individually, so we had a meeting with him as a zone. It was a really solid meeting. The highlight was President Griffin talking about how to "get in the back door" in our wards, so that we can get things moving in our wards.
Something else that was funny was the fiasco that was our lunch for that meeting. The zone leaders set up with a sub place for a 6 foot party sub for the 20 people, but somehow things got confused, and we ended up with 12 feet of sandwich! Needless to say, Sister Griffin said "Everyone takes some sandwich home", as she had no idea what to do with the excess.
On Wednesday evening, we had a really solid lesson with a member family. The mother got baptized a year ago, but the children aren't yet baptized. We taught about faith, and did a great exercise by having them each pray to know if the story of Noah was the truth. It brought the spirit super strong, and we got to show them the fruits of the spirit! It was awesome!
Thursday, we met yet another inactive member who's not on the ward roster. Seriously, this is like the 5th time that has happened!
Friday, we spent some time talking and planning about how we can get things moving faster here. We got some great plans made, so we should have a good week coming up.
On Saturday and Sunday, there was GENERAL CONFERENCE! It was a really good conference. I especially liked the talks by Elder Holland, Elder Ballard and Elder Arnold. Note that for the second conference in a row, a member of the Seventy came to our mission just before he spoke in conference. First Elders Foster and Montoya, now Elder Arnold!
One thing that I really liked was Elder Ballard's talk on Family councils. They are so important. Actually, we had talked about getting members to do them back on Friday, and then were overjoyed to have a talk to point to as to why they are awesome!
Sunday night, we had a super cool experience. Unsure of where to go, we opened up Google maps of our area and zoomed into wherever we felt led to. We ended up at a street where we found two people who were super ready to hear the gospel! The spirit works, guys!
That's about it for now. Have a good week everyone!
Keep Hauling that Water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
