This week was a bit of a drag, but things turned out alright. We were
sick Thursday, Friday, and some of Saturday Morning, which was super
boring and kind of hard.
Also, Transfers are this week, but I'm staying put with my same
companion (Elder Dill), so it's not a big deal this time. Anyways, on
to the letter!
Last Tuesday, we did a bunch of stuff to catch up on things, as we had
a lot going on on PDay. We went and picked up our suits from the dry
cleaners, bought Laundry Soap and Toliet Paper, got some slacks
stitched up by an old lady member, etc.
On Wednesday, we knocked a ton of doors. We're still working on
finding new investigators, so we're "beating the street" a lot, so to
speak. We had Fish Tacos with Brother Klippel, our High Councilor over
missionary work. They were so good! It was fun to hear some of his old
mission stories too.
Thursday, Elder Dill was feeling sick, and he ended up taking a 5 hour
nap! I napped and studied, and got pretty bored! :P We did end up
going out that night, and dropped by some potentials, but it was a
pretty bland day.
On Friday, I was sick. I slept, watched church videos, and played some
card games with the other elders. Long, tired day pretty much. That
night, we had a pretty good lesson with a less active man, who is
going to be starting to work with our Boy Scout troop soon.
After sleeping in until 10am Saturday morning, we felt a lot better.
We filled the church font for our Zone Leaders, and attended their
awesome baptism. They baptized an 11 year old named Tiffany. Other
than that, we had the adult session of Stake Conference in the
Evening. President and Sister Griffin both spoke and shared
encouragement to the members that they have good missionaries, and
that the members should work with us! :D It was a super good meeting.
Sunday, we had Stake Conference. It was a good meeting; They had 4
sisters from the Stake who shared their recent experiences with
missionary and family history work. It was a welcome break from 9
hours of church! We got a bunch done that night.
Yesterday, Elder Dennis, one of our Zone leaders, went to the mission
home, because he's finished with his mission. It was kind of sad to
see him go, but it will be fun to have a new Elder in our house.
We went to the mission office for my LDS family Services appointment.
We got to hang out with the senior office missionaries for awhile, and
grab some supplies for the zone. They had a mountain of packages for
the 21 incoming missionaries this week! We also got to go to
In-And-Out, which we had a member pay for randomly. That was cool.
That night, we had a pretty fun experience.
Elder Dill and Elder Shaffer (Who was with us because Elder Dennis
left), challenged two teens in the park to a game of Basketball for a
chance to share a message with them. They smoked the kids so bad!
After the game, we shared a short Restoration message and gave them
our number. I thought it was super funny, because it's something I've
heard of missionaries doing, but it actually happened!
That's about it for today. Everyone should write me sometime!
Keep Hauling that water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
