ELDER JOSEPH RICHARDSON - January 26, 2016 - Week 22: Large and in charge

Hello everyone,

This week has been fairly good. One big theme this week has been kind of running the area myself. Elder Hedrick picked things up really fast because he knew my ward well, but Elder Bradshaw has not been able to quite so fast. Because of that, I have been kind of running the area myself for the first time. It's been really cool, and it's been really good to see that I do actually know what I'm doing!

On Tuesday, we had our missionary coordination meeting. Because Brother Ferrin, our Ward Mission leader, was out of town, I ran the coordination meeting myself. It was a really solid meeting, helping our new Relief Society President figure things out, and getting our ward moving in the right direction. We've been far too focused on just visiting people, but there's a lot more that needs to be done to bring the inactives back.

On Wednesday, there was a Worldwide Missionary Broadcast that we watched. Surprisingly, it is the first one in over ten years! It was a really good broadcast, with talks from Elder Bednar, Elder Andersen, and Elder Oaks. Elder Oaks isthe new chairman of the Missionary Department council, and it was really good to hear his direction on missionary work.

On Friday, we had Zone meeting. There was a really good talk from Sister McCombie about how it is impossible to fail in missionary work and how our efforts are enough. It was a really good morale booster for all of us. We also went over to the Prongers for dinner again. We had Elk burgers because they got two elk while hunting this year. Also, they accepted the 21 Day Promise! It's a big deal because it means they will be praying and reading scriptures more often!

On Saturday, we went to the Millers and had carne asada tacos. We talked about the state of missionary work in the ward and he shared some helpful advice about working with many of the less actives. It was a really good time, and will help us work smarter.

Yesterday, we had a really solid ward council meeting. They are definitely getting the hang of working together to help everyone they can.

That's about it for today. Feel free to send me random emails whenever.

Keep Hauling that Water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
