ELDER JOSEPH RICHARDSON - March 22, 2016 - Week 30: Random Week

Hello everyone,

Things are pretty good 'round these parts. We've got a baptism coming up this Saturday, so that's exciting.

Anyways, on Tuesday and Wednesday, we baked cookies. It took forever! At our Mission Tour last week, Elder Arnold told us that we should bake cookies for our Bishops and Ward Mission Leaders, so we did. It took two full afternoons to go from ingredients to plating them, though.....

On Wednesday was our first encounter with craziness. We got a referral to a 16 year old girl who had chatted with some missionaries online, so we called her and set up an appointment on Wednesday. We were about halfway through the Restoration in her neighborhood park when she got a call from her mom. Turns out she didn't talk to her parents about it, and they are super opposed to organized religions. So her dad shows up and starts chewing us out, trying to use some of the more infamous Anti-Mormon arguments, but he didn't remember them too well, so Elder Leavitt ended up telling the dad about the arguments and why they are nonsensical. It was kind of funny! So, not too bad. The dad demanded that we never come by again, so I guess we won't be teaching her anytime soon.

On Friday, we went to check out some referrals, and knocked on the door of an older couple who just moved in to one of our wards! They're pretty fresh off a senior mission, and it was cool to talk to them about their experiences serving in Rochester, New York.

On Saturday, we had the baptismal interview for the Wilfongs, a couple who are getting baptized this Saturday! It was good, and they're all set to be baptized! The work is going great out here!

Sunday was super long. We had dinner with an inactive family, and talked about the Plan of Salvation. However, our lesson got super interrupted when their grill outside burst into flames! Turns out chicken grease can flare up pretty big! The chicken was fine though, which was good. And their house didn't burn down, which was a plus. We also attended a "cottage meeting" with the stake president, where we got to have an informal gospel discussion with him and our investigators. It was pretty good, and the family we brought had a good experience.

Well, that's it for now! Everyone should email me! :D

Keep Hauling That Water!
Elder Joseph Richardson
