This week I finally got my new companion! (See last week's letter to hear about Elder Dill)
We had a good week. The funny thing was that we had a horrendous run of dinner cancellations, like 3 in a row, so we had some adventures in food. Did you know that Burger King now sells a thing call the Mac n' Cheeto? It's a giant Cheeto made of Mac n' Cheese. So yeah, we went to Burger King one night, and Papa Murphy's the next.
In terms of the work, we spent a decent amount of time introducing Elder Dill to our Ward Council members. We also are still teaching Joshua, who is set to be baptized come July 30th. We are also trying to get back in with a bunch of random other people who we've taught before. It's kind of tiring.
A funny story this week was that there was this guy named Dennis who we've talked to before who asked us to come help him mow his lawn. He's disabled, so he needed us to do it for him. What was really weird is that after we'd finished, he kept asking us if we would go and buy him "some smokes" at the store down the street. We, of course, didn't feel comfortable buying cigarettes, so we declined, especially because he had a full pack right next to him anyway. Eventually, he tried to bribe us to do it! It was crazy the lengths some people will go to get a hold of cigarettes. We were kinda freaked out.
Another thing we did this week was print out and assemble a giant map of our area. It really is going to help us lay out better where we want to go, and keep track of where we are working.
On Saturday, we helped with a big move in 112 degree heat! That was crazy! Luckily, they provided plenty of water, and it was actually kind of fun!
On Sunday, Elder Dill had to speak in Cactus Lane Sacrament meeting. It was pretty funny because they misspelled his name as Elder Gill.
That's about it for today. I hope to hear from a bunch of people this week.
Keep hauling that Water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
