ELDER JOSEPH RICHARDSON - October 18, 2016 - Week 60: Lots of Cancels

Hey everyone,

This week has been pretty good. We have started doing little
missionary messages with members, and have already seen some success .
One member we invited to share the gospel already asked a friend of
his to take the missionary lessons, and she accepted! She lives in
Gilbert though, so it's not someone we're going to get to teach. Oh
well, Chalk one up for the Lord! :P

Its been kind of an interesting week, as we've spent a good portion of
it clearing our our list of potential investigators. We found a lot of
people who actually had very little potential, and were just clogging
up our lists, so we marked them off. Our maps are a lot less cluttered
now!

One interesting story: We were walking around a neighborhood, and we
met this guy out drinking on his porch. We said hi, and he asked what
church we were from. After hearing we were Mormons, he set off on the
hilariously vague rant about "how he knows tings about our church" and
that we are clearly too young to understand Mormonism. We countered by
asking what his concerns were, but he just started talking about how
there is corruption in every church, and no religion is worth it. The
whole thing made a lot more sense once he admitted to being an
ex-Catholic. Of course, Catholicism is pretty corrupt, so we
understood where he came from. He still refused to listen to us at all
though....... so that was fun. Another day in the life and all that
jazz.

On Thursday, we had a special District Leader meeting in Peoria. I got
a lot of new ideas and advice for fulfilling my assignment and we went
to Panda Express afterwards, which I love. I finally broke the ice with
Elder Young, the other district leader in our zone.

On Friday, we had another district Meeting. Sister Knox, who's only
been out like 2 weeks, gave a great discussion on preparing people for
baptism! It was awesome! I shared a doctrinal discussion on the laws
of Justice and Mercy.

Well, that's pretty much my week. How's everyone else doing?

Keep hauling that water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
