Hello everyone,
This week has been really good. I have a new companion now, Elder
Hedrick. He has some history with the area, having served in the local
YSA ward awhile and trained Elder Dill, who runs that area now.
Last Wednesday, Sister Jennings drove our district down to Glendale
for transfers. It was a big transfer, changing all but one
companionship in our zone. Elder B got transferred down to the Phoenix
North Stake. As I said, I now have Elder Hedrick as a companion. The
only trainee in the zone to leave was Elder Amyda, the other three of
us stayed in the same places.
We've been going around sharing the new Christmas videos with our
members. Have you all seen it yet? It's at Christmas.mormon.org. We
are doing this little lesson about sharing the gospel comparing the
video to the fruit on the Tree of Life.
We have a new investigator! Sort of. One of our older youth, Luke, has
a girlfriend who is interested in hearing more about the church! The
only trouble is that she lives in the next stake over, the Prescott
Valley Stake. That means we may need to reassign her to her local
missionaries and get her baptised there. I'm just glad she's ready to
progress!
On Saturday, we had our ward Christmas party. It was super fun. We had
a baked potato bar and hot chocolate. We also had some vocal
performances by some members, and then a band of members playing
Christmas carols.
Afterwards, we went to the local square for the lighting of their
Christmas lights. It was a big community event, and it was super cool
because they had the mayor reading from the scriptures, mostly from
Luke 2. After that, I got to go around the square doing some street
contacting. It was a really good experience, and I got to talk with
many different people.
Yesterday, we had some solid church meetings and then went to the
Bennetts for dinner. Sister Bennett has a pair of really hyper boys
who were bouncing off the walls. She made an amazing thanksgiving
style dinner. Later, we went and watched the Christmas devotional with
the YSA ward and Elders. It was fun and we got to talk to some of our
members who attend their ward.
The Christmas devotional was super good. I was kind of disappointed
that President Monson didn't speak, but Elder Bednar and Elder
Uchtdorf's talks were super good. We played conference bingo and I got
a blackout! :P
I hope everyone is having a good week. Merry Christmas!
Keep Hauling that water,
Elder Joseph Richardson
